I like this a lot. Quiet, dark, yet textured with a very heavy atmosphere. I'm also getting this sort of alien-like or subtly paranormal vibe. I don't know if that's just me.
This has so little to say, but instead so much to feel.
At first I think I was a little uncomfortable with the woman on the left slightly cropped out of the frame, but getting a closer and longer look at it, I think it's absolutely perfect. And the dirty texture on the building, the ink-like darkness of aging dripping slowly from the grate in the background, the shriveled and crisp fallen leaves on the ground, the lack of light, mostly illegible message in the background, the bare twigs like spiders' legs at the top of the image, the way people's eyes just look like empty blackened sockets, the slight leaning of the woman, the perfectly still and blunt and staring and intent posture of the man, all contribute to the overall feel and make me love this even more.
P.S. If this could be critiqued I'd have made this comment one.
The idea behind the pic was to reflect their relationship. Like most people that I photograph they hated the result, but I think it was an accurate portrayal at the time. I understand why the crop of the woman on the left would disquiet the viewer but I thought that it drew the eye away from the window grill (which I really like - I love finding the right environment in which to photograph a person) and showed her need to close the gap between them.
Glad you appreciate it and if you're ever in Scotland let me take your pic.
You ever heard this band? [link]YBHe3HHouY&feature=related
The models in my pictures seldom like how they look in it too, though it my case it's probably because you can hardly recognize them most of the time. But still, both you and I portray people quite darkly and that's not always how they'd like to be portrayed. But hey, it makes for great art.
I can totally get that about the relationship, you show it in the coolest way.
haha I don't think I'll be going to Scotland anytime soon but I'm big into travel so if I happen to be there sometime in the future I will definitely let you. I'd love getting my picture taken artistically, though it doesn't ever happen. I try self portraits sometimes but they tend to frustrate me. My current ID is probably one of the best I was able to get.
DA broke that first link but I'm watching the second one now. haha It looks like the lead singer is wearing some kind of robe... he's pretty entertaing to watch. And in contrast to him and the guitarist, they're quite an unenthusiastic bunch, especially the drummer. I like this a lot!
My trouble with models is that the people I know want me to make them look like models and the models you can hire look like models.
Glad you like the music. I've been listening to The Furs all week. First album is the bing, the second is good but commercial and then they turn to pop. They had a good sound and then spoilt it.
Scotland's a cool country but it does have its drawbacks. I bought a pair of shoes today made with Kevlar - the idea being that the soles take forever to wear out - but all day I've been wanting to deflect bullets with my feet. If I lived in the USA there's a good chance I could have done that (according to Hollywood). I'm going to NY in the new year so I'm taking my shoes with me, just incase.
I think The Furs first album is up there amonst my favs.

Hoping to get out with my camera this weekend and annoy people by taking their pic.
